Akers Biosciences (LON:AKR) has inked a deal with a firm that supplies to US government agencies.
The master distribution agreement with ADS INC will see the company’s whole suite of products marketed to the military, law enforcement and the defence industries.
The focus initially will be on the company’s flagship PIFA Heparin/PF4 product for rapid diagnosis of an allergic reaction to the blood-thinner Heparin.
"Akers and ADS have identified a number of areas in which US government departments such as the Department of Defense could benefit significantly from the introduction of the company's rapid diagnostic assays," said chairman Ray Akers.
The heparin test will be sold alongside its rapid blood-typing card that could be used for transfusions under battlefield conditions and tests for infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue fever.
"ADS is the preeminent distributor to this important target market so we are delighted to partner with them through this agreement to reach these large potential customers," said Akers.
